PublishedBy: in SportNovember 29, 2019

FIFA has announced its groupings for African qualifiers the 2022 World Cup playing Nigeria in Group C along with South Africa and Angola with Kenya joining them as the fourth team from which only one side will qualify for the next round.

Taking place between November 21 and December 18 in Qatar, the 2022 World Cup will be the first one ever not to be played in the summer and qualifiers have already begun in some zones. In Africa, the first round involved 28 teams being involved in a two-game knock out series.

Nigeria in the first round had to battle with  Ethiopia, Liberia, Tanzania, Equatorial Guinea, Namibia, Djibouti, Angola, Mozambique, Sudan, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Guinea-Bissau and Togo. Now that the first round has been completed, the draw for the second round has been made and Nigeria has been placed in a tough group involving two other previous World Cup participants.
