2019 Presidency: Why We Are Angry With President Buhari – Abuja Indigenes

Natives of Abuja have expressed disappointment over the failure of President to appoint an indigene of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, into the Federal Executive Council.

The landlords are not happy that failed to obey an Appeal ruling compelling him to appoint an indigene as Minister forthwith.

Counsel to the Original Inhabitants Development Association of Abuja (OIDAA), Barrister Musa Baba-Panya, gave vent to the feelings of the people on Wednesday when he addressed reporters in Abuja.

He said, “The administration came to power on the promise of change. Next to its three cardinal agenda of security, economy, and corruption is the rule of law.

“But, we are disappointed with ’s selective implementation of court orders. The Appeal sitting in Abuja gave a judgement in January 2018 compelling the President to immediately appoint an indigene of Abuja as a Minister of the Federation forthwith.

“It’s been over a year since that constitutional judgment was passed. Yet, the President has failed to obey it. We took steps last November to get him to implement the judgement by serving him ‘Notice of Disobedience to Order’ otherwise known as Form 48. He also ignored it.

“The whole disobedience to certain orders of the Courts under this government speaks to the hypocrisy and questionable integrity of the President.

“If not that President has immunity, he will be in Kuje prisons because he is in contempt of the Court. By not implementing the order of the Appeal Court, he has breached several provisions of the constitution as relates to the rights of the indigenes of FCT to the ministerial appointment.”
